Listing Syndication: The Saga Continues
Posted by tcdain on October 27, 2011
SIR/MLS, Inc. recently attended the Council of MLS’s (CMLS) 2011 convention in Tuscon Az. During the event there were some outstanding topics for discussion that will benefit users of SIR/MLS, Inc. in the months ahead. One topic that I am sure will get some attention was the presentation from Mobile Agent/Broker Owner Krisstina Weiss and her take on the iPad revolution. They are a 100% mobile & paperless office. More to come on this in the future…Another hot topic was Listing Syndication. The industry realizes that there are some fundamental business problems with how listing syndication works (or doesn’t work) in the market today. Here is just about everything you need to get “up to speed” on the Listing Syndication topic.
There are ways that you can help become part of the solution. Trulia recently sited that: “69% of the errors we see come from 3rdparty syndicator sources”.
These 3rd party sources are vendors commonly used at brokerage/agent direction (virtual tour providers, website companies, etc.). Know, which technology you use to syndicate data, monitor the data you syndicate, or possibly stop syndicating the data from select 3rd party tools. Another thing you can do is claim your online listing content. As one example, Trulia has developed a great tool that will allow you to claim your listings and correct the problems you find.
